Security Researcher and Engineer
The Role
We're seeking an exceptional Security Researcher and Engineer to join our team of elite technical talent. You'll work on cutting-edge security challenges for world-class clients, tackling problems that require deep expertise in reverse engineering, system internals, and security research.
This role offers the opportunity to work on diverse, high-impact projects—from designing eBPF-based threat detection systems to reverse engineering complex applications and implementing novel security solutions across multiple platforms.
Responsibilities
- Conduct in-depth security research and vulnerability analysis across operating systems and embedded environments.
- Design and implement advanced security tools, sensors, and protection mechanisms, such as eBPF runtime monitoring, static analysis, and hooking frameworks.
- Reverse-engineer complex software and firmware (ARM64, x86, embedded) to identify, exploit, and mitigate potential vulnerabilities.
- Design, build, and harden production-ready R&D systems, contributing to system-level architecture and code analysis across Golang, Rust, C/C++, Python, and related languages, in collaboration with a world-class engineering team.
Qualifications
Seniority: This is a senior role for candidates with 10+ years in security research, engineering, or offensive security. We may also consider exceptional candidates with 5+ years of relevant experience for a junior track. There is no upper limit for the right researcher or engineer.
- Proficiency in Python, C/C++, Go, or Assembly for exploit and tool development is an advantage.
- Hands-on experience with reverse engineering tools (IDA Pro, Ghidra, Radare2, etc.) and penetration testing frameworks.
- Strong understanding of operating system internals, network protocols, and secure software development.
- Experience with cloud security, containerization (Docker, Kubernetes), and DevSecOps principles is an advantage.
Application Process
Botanica values diversity and encourages applications from all qualified individuals.
